10/16 PSAT Schedule Information

Tue, 10/15/2024 - 12:13pm

PSAT is on October 16th (10th-11th Grade)
PSAT testing will take place October 16, 2024  for 10th and 11th Graders. The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) is a standardized test administered by the College Board and cosponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation in the United States. The PSAT provides information to educators, parents and the public on student progress towards proficiency on the Maryland College and Career Ready Standards.
The PSAT this year will be fully digital. Students will access the test with the BlueBook app on their HCPSS Chromebooks. The digital test has 2 sections, Reading & Writing, and Math with a break in between. THIS TEST IS ONLY FOR 10-11 GRADE STUDENTS!

Students: Please make sure to bring your FULLY CHARGED Chromebook to school on PSAT day! If you do not have a school issued device, you’ve lost your device, or you are having issues with it, please go to the Media Center to have one issued or for troubleshooting ASAP. Please bring a pencil and you may bring a calculator if you have one. A calculator is embedded in the Bluebook app.  This year, College Board decided that students may not wear hats or hoods during testing. Please be prepared to follow this guideline.

Parents: Please make sure students attend school that day and are ON TIME! We will begin testing at 7:50 so it is important that students are present and seated. There are no make-ups. Once directions are completed, students will no longer be allowed in the testing room.

Please take this day as an opportunity to explore post-graduation options. In the past many students have used this day to visit college campuses, explore/apply for career opportunities, and work on college applications. Wilde Lake will also host a college essay workshop for students that would like assistance with completing their essays.  The English Department will be hosting a college essay clinic for seniors on the morning of PSAT day. We will have English teachers, a counselor, and some other resources available for students.
