The Horizon Foundation is sponsoring a virtual Walk Audit and needs student volunteers to help facilitate a discussion with other participants on Wednesday, 10/21. Training is provided. This is a great opportunity for students to practice their public speaking and leadership skills.

Number of Walk Audit Leaders Needed: 25-30 (Open to mature high school students and/or adults)

Responsibilities: This is a leadership opportunity. Walk Audit Leaders must be comfortable with public speaking and facilitating an online group discussion. Walk Audit Leaders will need to complete (2) 1-hour online training sessions – dates/times TBD; complete the Walk Audit in-person between 10/14 – 10/21 using the Fulcrum App; review all virtual Walk Audit materials; must be available to help facilitate a virtual small group discussion on 10/21 from 7:00 – 8:00 pm.
NHS/SSL Hours Available: Students will receive up to (12) hours for their participation in all (5) components of Walk Audit Leader training and discussion facilitation on 10/21.
Virtual Walk Audit Overview
As part of its Streets for All Campaign, Horizon and Toole Design Group are creating a virtual walk audit. The route is located in Elkridge near Lawyers Hill Court off Montgomery Road. The route is estimated to be less than one mile and should take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. Additional information and instructions for all (5) stages of participation will be provided after registration.
Walk Leaders are being asked to commit to participating in (5) stages:
Complete training session one; 1-hour online – Dates/Times TBD
Complete training session two; 1-hour online – Dates/Times TBD
Complete the walk audit in person anytime between 10/14 – 10/21 using the Fulcrum App
Review all virtual walk audit materials
Facilitate small group discussion online 10/21
