Spring Sport Information

The Spring Sports Season is ONE MONTH AWAY, with the first day of tryouts on Saturday, March 1st! This next month will go quickly, so here are some reminders for all student-athletes who intend to try out for a spring sport. There are a lot of them, so please make sure to read carefully!

  1. Spring Sports Registration is OPEN through HCPSS Connect! ALL athletes must complete the registration documents by Friday, February 29th in order to participate in tryouts. Click here to begin registration: https://www.hcpss.org/connect/
  2. Student-athletes who played a fall or winter sport will only need to complete the Athletic Participation Form, Residency Verification, and be Academically Eligible.  Student-athletes who have not yet played a sport this year will need to complete the full-round of Athletic Paperwork, including obtaining a Sports Physical, and being Academically Eligible.
  3. Spring Sports eligibility is based on final Quarter 2 grades. Quarter 2 ended on Friday, January 24th. Student-athletes must have obtained at least a 2.0 GPA with no more than one “E” at the conclusion of Quarter 2 in order to be considered Academically Eligible.
  4. Sports Physicals can take place through your doctor, an urgent care, or for FREE in the School-Based Wellness Center at WLHS! In order to get a FREE physical at school, you must have an appointment scheduled. Email HowardSBWC@howardcountymd.gov OR call 410-313-6362 to enroll and schedule your physical. Sports Physicals can be scheduled every Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday between the hours of 8:00am-4:00pm.
  5. Tryout days and times, as well as contact information for our spring coaches, can be found on our Wilde Lake Athletics page. Please note that tryout times are subject to change, so check this site over the course of the next month and reach out to the head coach with any questions.
