Wellness Center at WLHS

The Howard County Health Department and Howard County Public Schools are continuing our partnership to host a school-based wellness center at Wilde Lake High School. The school-based wellness center is open 2-3 days a week when school is in session and offers the following health care services by appointment to all students regardless of health insurance or family income:

  • Physical exams- annual, sport, camp, and college entry
  • Diagnosis and treatment of acute illnesses and injuries- Walk-in appointments maybe available
  • Management of chronic health problems, such as asthma
  • Health education
  • Referrals for services not provided in the school-based wellness center
  • Health screenings - behavioral and reproductive health

All WLHS students, including those with and without health insurance, are encouraged to apply in order to access the Wellness Center during the school day. See applications in English and Spanish.

The center's physicians and nurse practitioners will provide health services only during the school day and will not replace your child's regular health provider.

The center staff will work with a child's regular provider to coordinate care. With parent permission, a copy of a child's visit will be sent to a child's regular provider. A parent's signed consent and completion of the wellness center enrollment packet is required for a student to be enolled and receive services in the school-based wellness center; except for services covered under the Maryland Minor Consent Laws.

The WLHS school-based wellness center will only bill medical assistance and managed care providers. No co-pays or other fees will be collected.
